Abstract

The growing concern over plastic pollution has driven research toward biodegradable materials with enhanced mechanical and thermal properties. This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of biodegradable nanocomposites combining polylactic acid (PLA) with cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs). The study evaluates the nanocomposites’ biodegradability, tensile strength, and thermal stability. Results reveal that the addition of CNCs improves mechanical properties by 25% and accelerates biodegradation under composting conditions. These findings highlight the potential of nanocomposites as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional plastics in packaging and agricultural applications.
