Quantum Computing in Cybersecurity: A Paradigm Shift in Data Protection
Abstract
The advent of quantum computing poses both opportunities and challenges for cybersecurity. This paper explores how quantum algorithms can enhance encryption methods while also presenting potential threats to classical cryptographic systems. A comparative study of Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms illustrates their impact on current encryption standards, including RSA and AES. The research also discusses the development of post-quantum cryptography and its role in securing sensitive data. Case studies from China’s quantum research initiatives, such as those at the University of Science and Technology of China, highlight the country’s advancements in this field. The paper concludes with recommendations for transitioning to quantum-resistant security frameworks.
